School Closures

The school will be closed for staff training on Friday 28th of May and on Monday the 31st of May for the Bank Holiday.

Open day for new pupils


Children who will be coming to school in September for the first time will be visiting the school on Tuesday 3rd June at 10 am. The Rainbow Playgroup staff will take those children who attend the playgroup and parents should be at the school at 12 noon. There will be a representative of DELTA to speak to parents about issues regarding starting school.

School Competitions

The Tyrone Primary Schools Camogie Blitz will be hosted in Eglish this year on Friday 4th June at 10.15 am. There will be seven teams involved in the competition and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the morning.

The league section of the Cumann na mBunscol football will be held here in Eglish on Monday 7th June at 10.15 am and again parents are welcome to come and see the competition.

Making Films

The Primary 7 children will be travelling to the AmmA Centre in Armagh on Wednesday 2nd of June as part of their animation project. The children have been working on the production of an animated film and have been invited to the technology and media suite in the AmmA Centre to create and edit their films. All the children will require a packed lunch.

School Trips

On the 14th of June Primary 1, 2, 3 and 4 will travel to Omagh Cinema in the morning and then on to Mr Tumbles in the afternoon. The children will only require a snack as they will be receiving a meal in Mr Tumbles. The trip costs £10 per child which includes transport and a meal.

The Primary 5,6 and 7 children will be travelling to The Share Centre on the 24th of June and any outstanding money for this trip should be paid as soon as possible.

Teddy Bear's Picnic

The Primary 1 children will be travelling to Grant’s Homestead for the annual ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’on Tuesday 8th of June. The children will require a packed lunch for the day and should bring their favourite teddy bear. Admission for each child costs £5 and should be paid no later than Friday 4th of June.

School Tests

The children from Primary 2 - Primary 7 will be completing class tests next week beginning Monday 24th of May. It is important that all children attend school next week and children perform much better in school when they have had a good night's sleep.

Tyrone V Antrim

Congratulations to Lorcan McCaughey who has been selected to play in the half time game at Sunday's Senior Championship fixture between Tyrone and Antrim in Casement Park in Belfast.

School Closures


The school will be closed on Friday 28th for Staff Training and on Monday 30th of May for the May Bank Holiday.

Swimming Lessons

Primary 6 and 7 will begin swimming lessons on Thursday 27th May and the classes will last for 5 weeks. Children should all be wearing googles and girls should have a swim hat and full swimming costume.

Dissolving Boundaries Trip

The children from Roan St. Patrick's Primary School and Deravoy National School, Emyvale spent a wonderful day at the Ski and Golf Centre in Craigavon on Monday 17th May. The children were introduced to Alpine Skiing, Snow Tubing and Fun Golf. The photos from the day can be viewed on the slide shop at the top of the page.

Congratulations to the children in Primary 6 and 7 who represented the school at the recent Cumann na mBunscol Tyrone skills competition. Matthew McGleenan(Football), Catherine Donnelly, Amy Barrett and Leanne Donnelly (Camogie) all competed against children from the other Primary schools in Tyrone in the skills of Gaelic football and camogie. All the children finished very highly and Leanne Donnelly P6 was selected as the top camogie player from the Tyrone Primary Schools and will play at half time in Croke Park in a major Championship Hurling tie in August.

The Haiti Appeal

Well done to Jack and Molly who collected sponsorship money for staying off sweets and computer games recently. The children raised over £100 for the Haiti Appeal and showed great initiative and consideration for others.
Well done!

School Football Team


The school football team will be travelling to Cookstown tomorrow for the Tri-County Football Finals. Those boys who are travelling will require a packed lunch and a coat. Football boots and trainers should be brought along on the day.

Dissolving Boundaries Trip


The children in Primary six and seven will be travelling to Craigavon Ski Centre at Silverwood near Lurgan on May 17th. This trip will be organised with Deravoy National School Emyvale as part of the Dissolving Boundaries Project. Activities will include Alpine Skiing, Snow Boarding, Snow Blading and Fun Snow Tubing. The children will be receiving a meal at the centre. The trip is fully funded by the Dissolving Boundaries project.
